Casino "Black Book" - one more poker star inside
While Irish government is introducing new advertising standards for casinos, in Las Vegas another one poker legend had been listed to the «Black Book» of gambling. Archie Karas or, originally, Anargyros Karabourniotis is one of the brightest stars of poker from the very 90s. He has earned an unprecedented gambling popularity due to the big bets, dashing luck and, of course, cheating in a casino.
5 Unique fraud schemes, 5 arrests in 5 different casinos from California to Nevada became the cause for the replenishment of the interesting book. This «black list» of the casino players was found back in 1972 and is regularly updated with gamblers’ names, who are banned from visiting casinos in Nevada for good. During the entire history of the "Black Book", it gathered only 32 names. To get into this list is quite difficult, but to get out is absolutely impossible.
2013 poker virtuoso Karas was arrested in San Diego for the fifth time, after which he was sentenced to 3 years’ probation. This week, May 17th Mr Karas has not appeared at the Gambling Commission hearing, where he could have an opportunity to challenge the decision on the «Black book’s» replenishment with his name. This is the very way he became a 33rd American poker player who is not allowed to play ... at least in Nevada.
Interesting fact! Archie Karas gained the popularity and the adoration in early 90-ies due to the incredible increase of his deposit from 50 dollars up to $ 40 million. The rumors of a super gambler were growing like a snowball, when he beat thick and fast the most outstanding poker players of the time: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Moss, Puggy Pearson, Stu Ungar and Chip Reese.
