An ordinary wiper from Belgium has got rich by record € 168 million

Euromillions jackpot

According to the international media the last Friday (the 7th of October) has become a landmark and the most successful day for an ordinary Belgian, a resident of Brussels. And this is not surprising, because it was a day when the results of the last draw of EuroMillions, the popular European lottery, were announced. According to the ancient tradition, the draw was held in Paris. Our lucky stiff managed to win the jackpot, thus getting richer by fantastic €168 million. For obvious reasons, because of the safety reasons, the name of a new multi-millionaire is not called, but we have learned the fact that this is an ordinary street-cleaner at the age of 45.

"When I watched the latest draw of my favourite lottery on TV, in which, by the way, I've been playing for more than 10 years, and my "cherished” combinations began to fall out, I was just in shock. I could not believe that all this was happening to me", - said the winner of the EuroMillions tour to the organisers. They also told that this lottery lover adored the films with Robert De Niro and fish dishes.

According to the French newspaper Sour, this worker of the cleaning company Bruxelles-Proprete did not come to work on Monday, the 10th of October, and he hadn’t even warned the authorities about the reasons of it. It led to the overall bewilderment, because this worker hadn’t had absence without leave before. It is worth mentioning that the inhabitants of this small Central European country have not won such high prizes before, the previous record was "only" €100 million.

It should be also reminded you that the first draw of the lottery EuroMillions held back in 2004, the 13th of February, and only three countries: the UK, France and Spain, participated in it. Within six months, six neighbouring European countries: Luxembourg, Ireland, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland and Portugal joined to the lottery. The winnings are taxed only in Switzerland, and the ticket price is € 2 for a regular ticket and another € 1 for an extra ball.
