Steve O'Dwyer Won EPT Grand Finale Main Event

European Poker Tour Grand Finale finished in Monte Carlo yesterday. The main event of the last stop attracted 531 players who paid 10 600 euros buy-in. The total prize pool exceeded 5,3 m. euros. The lion’s share of the prize pool was distributed among final table players. This time final table had many sharks including Jason Mercier, Jake Cody, Daniel Negreanu and Steve O’Dwyer who became the champion.

O’Dwyer won 1,2 m. euros. It should be mentioned that the American player reached final tables for the third time this year. Despite having wonderful scores O’Dwyer has never won EPT tournaments. Heads-up battle saw competition between O’Dwyer and Canadian Andrew Pantling. The players had almost equal stacks but O’Dwyer managed to take the lead shortly. After the lunch break he increased his lead made it 3-to-1. Then the decisive hand occur. Steve raised 240 000 having T8. His opponent tried to defend his blind with suited K5. The flop gave O’Dwyer three of a kind. Turn gave Pantling hope with flush-draw. O’Dwyer pushed and Pantling showed. But the lady luck didn’t held Canadian player. Instead O’Dwyer received four of a kind. Well, Pantling was also happy with his final result. The vice-champion won 842 000 euros.
