Max Altergott Won EPT Grand Final Super High Roller Taking Home 1,7m Euro

Another European Poker Tour season is coming to its end. EPT Grand Final attracted 50 players who decided to participate in EPT Super High Roller event. They paid 100 000 euros buy-in and battled for 4,8 m. euros prize pool. Max Altergott who is well known online player (AltiFC nickname) won the tournament taking home 1 764 400 euros. He managed to beat Jason Mercier heads-up. However the American pro received 1 115 700 euros reward. 

Mercier started the final day as a chip leader. He held almost 1/3 of overall chips. Sadly he was unable to hold the lead. Mercier survived with 5 150 000 chips. His heads up opponent held 7 350 000 chips. Anyway Mercier started his last battle successfully. He returned his lead but the next hand became decisive. The finalists started the war for the biggest pot of the tournament. Altergott started with 4BB bet. Then Mercier 3bet. Altergott didn’t give up and raised again, Mercier called. The flop brought J87. Mercier checked and his opponent attacked. The turn brought 4. Mercier checked-showed, Altergott called. The Austrian pro had pocket queens, the American hoped for the best with K7. The river didn’t change the situation and Altergott won the decisive hand. 

Well, Altergott deserved his win. On the way to the top he knocked out many reputable pros including Sorel Mizzi (3^rd result), Timothy Adams (4^th result), Scott Seiver (6^th result) and Mike Watson (7^th result).
