A Restaurant Owner from Canada Won One of WSOP Events

Calen McNeil from Victoria (Canada) won $1500 Omaha Hi/Lo WSOP event. He was rewarded with golden WSOP bracelet and $277 000. 42-year-old McNeil is well-known in Canada. He owns restaurants Big Wheel Burgers, The Guild and Zambri’s. In the phone interview McNeil said that winning WSOP bracelet means a lot for him, “It is huge for any poker player. Every player tries to win as many bracelets as possible but winning the first one is massive”.

McNeil has been playing poker professionally for last 5 years. He was in the hospital in 1994 suffering from overdose. Calen was in coma and nobody expected him to survive. Then he was paralyzed and was unable to move his body. He only felt his fingers. However he returned control over his body. 

During the rehabilitation period Calen started to play chess online. Then he switched to poker which became his hobby.
