McDonalds Employees Demand to Split the Lottery Jackpot

Woman from Baltimore claimed that she bought lucky Mega Millions Lottery ticket and won 1/3 of the lottery jackpot which was $656 m. However staff members of local McDonald’s restaurant demand her to split the winnings. They say that Mirland Wilson bought lottery tickets using money of her colleagues from McDonalds. Employees of the restaurant gave her money to buy tickets and share possible prize.

This story was published in many newspapers and websites in the USA. However none of mentioned people might get a single buck. The problem is that Ms. Wilson has not showed her lucky ticket yet. Maryland Lottery representatives said that the winning ticket was purchased on Friday at one of 7-Eleven stores. However nobody officially claimed the winnings. The director of lottery office Stephen Martino told that Ms Wilson has never contacted him, “We have no reasons to believe the story”. We are quite skeptical towards such stories and claims. Half of occasions like that are false.

The spokesperson of Maryland Lottery Carrol Everett said that she doesn’t believe Ms Wilson, “I have never thought that the woman won something. We never believe anyone unless he/she shows winning tickets and come with ID. When jackpot is as big as now people start to report winnings. They just want to belong to such stories and enjoy some fame”.

It is interesting that the similar story happened in 2010. The group of asphalt pavers sued their colleague who disappeared after MegaMillions draw in 2025. He told his fellow mates that he needed foot surgery. However asphalt pavers found his name in the list of the lottery winners. The man won $38,5m. The court decided that the man must share his winnings because the asphalt pavers gave money to buy lottery tickets.
