Scammed Lottery Jackpot Winner Is Getting His Money after 7 Years

New York resident has been waiting for his jackpot for 7 years. The man bought jackpot-awarding scratch-card but was scammed by employees of a store. He could win $5 Millions but had to wait quite long. The Gaming Commission reported that Robert Miles from Siracuse bought his lucky ticket in 2006. The man is going to finally receive his winnings during next several weeks.

The story started in May 2006th when Miles bought the lottery ticket in of numerous Syracuse stores. Nayef Ashkar owned the store but his sons Andy and Nayel worked during that evening. The brothers scammed the gambler saying that he won just $5000. Then they paid him $4000 and kept the winning ticket. The scammers waited for 6 years. In 2025th they claimed the jackpot.

USA authorities started the investigation. 35-year-old Andy Ashkar was pledged guilty 2 months ago. He can spend in jail up to 25 years for using the stolen lottery ticket. Nayef Ashkar who owns the store can also be taken to prison. He is accused of filling in false lottery forms.

The investigation was started last year when Miles came forward. He found out that Ashkar brothers claimed the jackpot. It is interesting that Robert is not an angel too. He said that he was under cocaine when he bought his lucky ticket therefore it was easy for Andy and Nayel to scam the man. Then Miles went bankrupt.

Extravaganza lottery jackpot is supposed to be paid out via 20 annual money transfers. But the Gaming Commission decided to let Rober Miles receive the slump sum if he wants.
